DONNA M. PERRY

HONOLULU, HAWAII - DONNA M. PERRY, 48 Donna M. Perry quietly passed away on Tuesday, April 12th, 2011 with family by her side. Her life began in Biloxi, Mississippi on November 18th, 1962, the daughter of Dave and Marge Ellis, an Air Force couple assigned to Keesler AFB. Donna traveled extensively in her youth, living in both Italy and Panama. She also developed into a terrific athlete as a teenager and loved playing many sports, particularly softball and volleyball. Donna's childhood in military surroundings influenced her greatly as she enlisted in the Air Force shortly after graduating high school. She served her country for next 22 years mostly overseas in Japan, Korea and Italy and supported combat operations from bases throughout Southwest Asia. She was an outstanding Airman! Following retirement from the Air Force, Donna continued to serve her community. She joined the Hampton Police Division and for three years served the citizens of Hampton, Virginia with professionalism and courtesy as one of the city's patrol officers. Unfortunately, her law enforcement career ended too early when she was diagnosed with cancer. However; Donna fought it and lived a full life. Completely retired, she focused on her family at home. She participated in school functions and helped her son's classes with field trips and projects. Donna relaxed by traveling, sightseeing, playing sports, listening to music, experimenting with 30 minute meals from Rachel Ray and of course, watching Wheel of Fortune! Donna leaves a wonderful ohana to cherish her memories and move forward with her dreams. Her family includes: her husband Michael C. Perry, her children, Calla L. Perry, Carissa M. Perry and Michael A. Perry; her granddaughters Makaylah A. Perry and Theryn B. Perry; her parents Dave and Marge Ellis; her sisters Debbie Tran (Tuan) and Nancy Law (Shawn); her niece Justine Martin and her nephew David (DJ) Law, and many other caring and loving relatives and friends. Donna faced her challenges with grace and dignity and was always encouraged by her extended family, her Air Force family, her police family and her parish family. Donna's family extends a special mahalo to the medical teams and oncology staffs at Riverside Hospital and the Peninsula Cancer Institute in Virginia and Tripler Army Medical Center and St Francis Hospice in Hawaii. Their care, guidance, spirit and love extended Donna's life and raised the quality of her family's life. Funeral services for Donna will take place on Tuesday, 3 May, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 48-422 Kamehameha Highway Kaneohe, Hawaii. A public viewing starts at 9:30am and funeral Mass begins at 11:00am. Burial services will be conducted at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, 45-349 Kamehameha Highway Kaneohe, Hawaii at 1:00pm. A reception will be held at 45-533 Mahinui Road, Kaneohe, Hawaii at the conclusion of burial services. Dress for the services is Aloha attire. For those unable to attend services in Hawaii, a memorial Mass for Donna will take place on Tuesday, 10 May at 11:00am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 100 Harpersville Road, Newport News, Virginia. A reception will be held immediately following Mass at St. Michael's Hall next door to the church. Please donate to cancer research in lieu of sending flowers.
